Arnie would be a little troubled that his beloved tournament is now attracting fewer of the top 20 players in the world as many of the top dogs are taking the week off to rest up for THE PLAYERS Championship. But with Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, and Rory McIlroy in the field, it still has some major star power. Based on historical results, the winning score should be somewhere in the 12 under range.
Who should win? – Rory McIlroy (12/1)
Rory won back in 2018 and has been on the first page of the leaderboard consistently during the last five editions of this tournament. He had a T10 at the Genesis against a strong field.
Who could win? – Jon Rahm (8.50/1), Viktor Hovland (16/1), Scottie Scheffler (16/1)
It’s clear that I agree with the oddsmakers as, along with McIlroy, this group has the shortest odds to win at Bay Hill. After a raft of first-time and somewhat surprising winners recently, I think we are going to see one of the top-10 players walk away with the winners cheque this week.
Longer shots to consider – Maverick McNealey (60/1), Jason Day (66/1)
McNealey is going to break through eventually and his T7 at the Genesis may have given him a big dose of confidence. Jason Day is all rested up and coming off a couple of his best results in the past two years.
Who will win? – Rory McIlroy
A lot of people in and around pro golf still believe that when he is on his game, Rory is the best player in the game. I don’t necessarily share that view but I do believe in “horses for courses” and this is a place where Rory always plays well.
