The Wyndham Championship, the last PGA tournament before the FedEx Cup playoffs, will be played at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC this week. For many in the field, it is the final chance to play themselves into the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings and qualify for the playoffs.
There are a handful of players who have consistently placed well at this event. In particular, Webb Simpson, Kevin Kisner, Si Woo Kim and Billy Horschel have all enjoyed good results here over the past several years and are all in this years field.
Who should win? – Si Woo Kim 25/1
Kim has been in the top-5 in the past three Wyndham’s and recently placed T15 at the Open and T14 in last week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Who could win? – Taylor Pendrith 40/1, Will Zalatoris 16/1, Shane Lowry 16/1, Webb Simpson 22/1
Pendrith came close again last week and among the rest of the field, has had the strongest results – albeit in weaker field events. Zalatoris is due to win soon but seems to only contend seriously in major events. Lowry has performed consistently well this year and it’s no surprise he is the odds on favourite this week. Simpson had three MC’s in his last five events and a T69 last week but he is a top-five machine at this tournament.
Who will win? – Will Zalatoris
Despite a lacklustre record over the past month or so, the U.S. Open runner-up is the class of this field and with the FedEx Cup beginning next week, this would be a good place to get his maiden win.
