Wilmington CC, Wilmington DE
The second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs will be played in Deleware and the Wilmington Country Club. This is the first time a PGA Tour event has been played in this state and on this golf course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones in the 1950s, the South Course at Wilmington is long (7500 yards) and varied with a mix of narrow and generous fairways, and large undulating greens.
Who should win? – Tony Finau 16/1
Finau is the hottest golfer in the world at the moment. His last three starts have produced two wins and a T5. His putting has always been the weakest part of his game but he seems to have found something with the flat stick.
Who could win? – Will Zalatoris 16/1, Jon Rahm 12/1, Sunjae Im 25/1, Matthew Fitzpatrick 16/1
Zalatoris finally has the monkey off his back with his first win last week. He seems to always deliver in the biggest events. Rahm has had an off year (for him) but finished well at the St. Jude with a T5. Im has quietly been one of the hottest players of late. His last three starts have been T2, T2, and T12. Fitzpatrick, coming off his U.S. Open win has been in contention consistently this season. He has had a T5, T21, and T5 in his last three tournaments.
Who will win? – Tony Finau
He has always hit it long and close but his putting down the stretch has kept him from closing out a number of tournaments – many of them majors. Once a golfer like Finau starts to expect all their putts to drop, the pressure on all the other parts of their game lessens. His hot streak could culminate in winning the FedEx Cup.
